For the Dreamers…

Sitting at my desk looking at something I’ve managed to hold onto for 20 years… It’s a ceramic, somewhat basketball shaped, jewelry box. I made this keepsake when I was a freshman in high school and playing basketball for Zion Benton Township High school.

#14 was the number I wore which was also the jersey number of my favorite female basketball player at the time, Cynthia Cooper. Cynthia was drafted to play for the Houston Comets at age 34. She had to wait many years to become a US professional basketball player because the league for women (WNBA) had not yet existed. She went on to be arguably one of the best point guards in the league winning MVP multiple times and inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2010.

My point is—like Cynthia, many of us are waiting for some of our dreams to manifest.Keep dreaming. Keep believing. Keep pressing. With God, nothing is impossible (Luke 1:37).

I find it funny that one of the first members of the church my husband and I planted last year, happens to be Cynthia’s aunt. Maybe it’s a coincidence or a little wink from God.
